The 2007-08 season marks Patrick Chambers' third season as an assistant coach and fourth as a member of the Villanova staff.
Chambers came to Villanova in 2004 as coordinator of basketball operations. He was elevated to his present position in 2005 and is involved in all aspects of the program, including recruiting, on-court skill development and oversight of the Wildcats' academic progress.
This Delaware County native has roots that run deep in the Philadelphia area.
As a player, Chambers earned a niche in the lore at Philadelphia University from 1990-94. After arriving at the school without a scholarship, Chambers became the starting point guard, establishing the school record for assists (709) in the process. During his stint with the Rams, Chambers helped spark the squad to a pair of NCAA Division II Elite Eight appearances and another pair of Sweet 16 finishes.
Following graduation, Chambers served for one season as an assistant coach at Delaware Valley College.
In 1999, Chambers was named top varsity assistant coach at Episcopal Academy. Chambers worked alongside Epsicopal head coach Dan Dougherty, who holds a place in Villanova lore as an assistant coach on the 1971 Wildcat squad which reached the NCAA Final.
Chambers also spent time as a special assistant to his former college coach, Herb Magee at Philadelphia University. In that capacity he assisted Magee with player development off the court, designed off-season workouts and scouted opponents.
The 35-year old Chambers was wed this June to the former Courtney Sullivan. The couple makes its home in Conshohocken, Pa.
"Patrick Chambers has an incredible passion and intensity level in everything he does," states Jay Wright. "His infectious personality enables him to recruit and teach players as well as anyone in the country."
