VILLANOVA, Pa. -
Senior Stephanie Campbell and freshman Lauren Wuzzardo have both earned 2007 Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All-Region honors for their outstanding performances this fall. Campbell has been named to the 2007 Mid-Atlantic Region's first team, while Wuzzardo has received second team honors. Earlier this month, both players were also recognized by the BIG EAST, earning second team all-conference honors for the 2007 season.
Campbell, a senior captain, was also selected as a member of the 2007 Preseason All-BIG EAST Team. This fall, she collected six goals and dished out 12 assists racking up 24 total points in her final campaign as a Wildcat. Over the years, the defensive back's responsibilites have included generating offensive runs, serving as the primary striker on corners, and spoiling an opponent's attack. Most recently, Campbell earned herself a spot in the highly coveted NFHCA North/South Division I All-Star game scheduled to take place tonight at 7:30 p.m. in College Park, Md.
Freshman sensation Wuzzardo proved to have already left her mark on the BIG EAST Conference in her rookie campaign. As Villanova's leading scorer with 13 goals and four assists, the Bridgeton, N.J. native held her own in the midfield by not only working her way into a starting role, but also becoming a crucial component in the Wildcats' 11-7 season. She is expected to develop into one of the league's most talented players over the next few years.
