VILLANOVA, Pa. -- The Villanova Wildcats, behind junior Meghan
Doyle's seven

victory over the visiting
University of Maryland-Baltimore County. Villanova improved their record
to 2-3 while UMBC
falls to 1-3.
Junior Katie Monahan, from West Chester, Pa., scored the first goal
of the game giving
the Wildcats a 1-0 lead just 3:23 into the half. After senior Maria
McCusker scored the Wildcats'
second goal, Monahan struck again beating UMBC goalie Amy Jagoda (seven
saves) just one
minute after her first goal.
UMBC cut Villanova's lead to 3-1, when
freshman Julie Dorney beat
Wildcat net-minder Julie Pinnix (13 saves). At intermission, Villanova
extended their lead to 8-5
after goals by freshman Liz Kenny, sophomore Molly O'Connor, McCusker and
two goals by

goals).
However, Doyle, a Cockeysville, Md., native, proved to be too much
for UMBC and
scored the final two goals of the game securing the victory for Villanova.
Doyle, Villanova's
leading scorer with 20 points (16 goals, 4 assists), finished the
afternoon with eight points (seven
goals, one assist) and managed to score seven of the last eight goals for
the Wildcats, including
